Emilio Gagliardi, M.Sc., is a social scientist turned sustainability innovator and Upstart Farmer. Emilio has been researching the causes, impacts, and solutions of climate change since 2008. From then on, he has dedicated himself to becoming a leader in supporting the people of Edmonton transition to a more sustainable and resilient lifestyle.
In 2012, Emilio and his team designed and built a living wall at St. Teresa Elementary School. He works closely with administrators and teachers to integrate plant-based projects into the classroom, and the cafeteria.
Currently, Emilio sits on the Grant MacEwan Sustainability Advisory Committee, has become a part of the Upstart Farmer movement, and has partnered with the Prairie Urban Farm to launch the Farm on Wheels project to bring urban agriculture to schools across Edmonton.
